Tour Itinerary
Day 1Fes → Ifrane → Cedar Forests (Barbary Macaques) → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (Luxury Desert Camp)
Depart Fes and head into the Middle Atlas, where the air turns crisp and the scenery shifts to forests and highland light. Pass through Ifrane and continue toward Midelt, a natural pause point as the landscapes begin to transform.
As you travel south, the route opens into one of Morocco’s most beautiful contrasts: the Ziz Valley, where palms and oasis towns appear like a green ribbon against desert tones. By late afternoon, you arrive in Merzouga, where the dunes rise like waves.
At golden hour, your Sahara transition begins:
- Camel trek at sunset across the dunes (classic, romantic, unforgettable), or
- 4×4 transfer for maximum comfort.
Arrive to your desert camp with lantern light, warm hospitality, dinner under the stars — and that quiet desert stillness high-end travelers love.
Overnight: Erg Chebbi desert camp (luxury upgrades available)
Saharaï moment: The first time you look up and realize that you’ve never truly seen the night sky before this.
Day 2Merzouga → Erfoud → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
After breakfast, you leave the dunes behind and move into a new kind of drama: desert-edge landscapes, fossil-rich terrain near Erfoud (optional short stop if you’re curious), then onward toward the canyons.
Arrive at Todra Gorge, where towering rock walls rise sharply on both sides and the air turns cool — a perfect contrast to the Sahara. Enjoy a gentle walk, photos, and a calm pause before continuing into the valley landscapes.
By late afternoon, you reach the Dades Valley, where cliffs and winding viewpoints create a sculpted, otherworldly feel. If timing allows, take a short walk near the famous “Monkey Fingers” formations as the light softens.
Overnight: Dades Valley (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Dinner in the valley as the cliffs turn warm red at dusk.
Day 3Dades → Rose Valley → Skoura → Ouarzazate → High Atlas → Marrakech
After breakfast, you begin the return crossing to Marrakech — designed as the most beautiful route back, not just the fastest. You travel through the Rose Valley, then pass the palm-filled Skoura Oasis and kasbah belt, with the option to pause for photos and a calm tea break.
You continue toward Ouarzazate, the desert gateway city, before arriving at one of Morocco’s most iconic highlights: Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Here, you’ll have time to explore the earthen village lanes and climb to the panoramic viewpoint — a cinematic, unforgettable stop that captures the essence of Morocco’s south.
From there, the scenery shifts again as you ascend into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing back via the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass — panoramic overlooks, mountain air, and that final sweeping contrast from desert-edge landscapes to Marrakech.
Arrive: Marrakech (evening)
Saharaï moment: The feeling of having crossed Morocco and seen a bit of it all — from dunes to kasbahs to mountains — in three days.

What is the route for the 3-day Fes to Marrakech tour via Merzouga?
Typically Fes → Middle Atlas (Ifrane) → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (Erg Chebbi dunes), then Todra Gorge + Dades Valley, returning to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO) and the High Atlas / Tizi n’Tichka Pass (timed to the day’s flow).
