Tour Itinerary
Day 1Arrival in Marrakech
Welcome to Marrakech.
Private transfer to your Saharaï-selected riad/hotel. Depending on arrival time: a soft landing with rooftop mint tea, a gentle first medina stroll, or a calm dinner reservation.
Overnight: Marrakech
Saharaï moment: Lantern light, warm air, and the Red City humming softly.
Day 2Marrakech Exploration (Full Day)
Today is Marrakech done the Saharaï way: curated, unhurried, and beautifully balanced.
Begin with a guided medina walk that weaves through Marrakech’s most iconic points of interest — Bahia Palace, the Madrasa (Ben Youssef, when accessible), the Koutoubia Mosque (exterior gardens), and the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna — with time in between for the souk lanes of spices, lanterns, leather and artisan workshops. Your guide helps you navigate smoothly, share context, and keep the experience elegant (quality over chaos).
In the afternoon, shift into calm at Jardin Majorelle — a serene garden escape of bold color and botanical beauty, perfect as a palate cleanser after the medina’s energy. A Saharaï-style lunch pause is built in, and the remainder of the day stays flexible: a short rooftop rest, a refined shopping stop, or an optional hammam ritual if you want to end the day feeling restored.
Overnight: Marrakech
Saharaï moment: Marrakech at dusk — rooftops, warm air, and the city glowing gold.
Day 3Marrakech → High Atlas (Tizi n’Tichka) → Telouet → Ounila Valley → Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO) → Ouarzazate
Today is the great crossing — the day Morocco begins to open up, scene by scene. Depart Marrakech and climb into the High Atlas Mountains via the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping at panoramic viewpoints where the air turns cooler and the landscape stretches wide.
You’ll detour to Telouet to visit the atmospheric Kasbah of Telouet, a striking glimpse into the region’s history and kasbah architecture. From here, the route threads through the quieter beauty of the Ounila Valley — a more intimate, less-traveled stretch of villages and earthen landscapes that feels worlds away from the main road.
By afternoon, arrive at Morocco’s most iconic ksar: Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Wander its honey-colored lanes, cross the river approach, and climb to the panoramic viewpoint over the valley — the moment where Morocco becomes cinematic. Its timeless silhouette has made it a favorite backdrop for major international film and television productions — including Academy Award winners Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator — earning it a reputation as one of the country’s most “Hollywood” locations.
Continue to Ouarzazate, the desert gateway city, and settle into your Saharaï-selected hotel/riad.
Overnight: Ouarzazate
Saharaï moment: Sunset on a terrace — kasbah light, calm air, and the Sahara drawing closer.
Day 4Ouarzazate → Skoura & Kasbah Amridil → Rose Valley → Dades (Monkey Fingers) → Todra Gorge → Erfoud (Fossils) → Merzouga (Luxury Desert Camp)
This is the great “south-to-Sahara” crossing — dense with highlights, but paced beautifully with smart stops so it still feels elegant.
Begin in the palm-filled Skoura Oasis and visit Kasbah Amridil, one of Morocco’s most iconic and best-preserved kasbahs — a true window into southern architecture and oasis life. Continue through the Rose Valley, where kasbah villages and valley light create a softer, cinematic Morocco en route to the Dades region.
In the Dades Valley, pause for photos (and, if timing allows, a short walk) near the famous “Monkey Fingers” formations — sculpted rock shapes that feel almost surreal in the late light. From there, descend into the dramatic corridor of Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls rise sharply on both sides — cool air, echoing stone, and a perfect contrast to the open road.
Continue toward Erfoud, known for fossil-rich desert stone — a fascinating reminder that this region was once an ancient seabed. If you’d like, we can include a short, reputable fossil workshop stop (curated and tasteful).
By late afternoon, you arrive in Merzouga, where the Erg Chebbi dunes rise like golden waves. At golden hour, your desert transition begins:
- Camel trek at sunset across the dunes, or
- 4×4 transfer for maximum comfort.
Arrive at your luxury desert camp with lantern light, warm hospitality, and dinner under the stars — followed by Berber rhythm, mint tea, and that rare stillness only the Sahara gives.
Overnight: Luxury desert camp (Erg Chebbi)
Saharaï moment: The first time you look up — and are left breathless.
Day 5Merzouga Immersion (Adventure & Culture)
Today is the Sahara, properly — not rushed, not “arrive-and-leave.” Sunrise in the dunes is optional, followed by a slow breakfast and time to actually enjoy the desert landscape at your own pace.
Your day can be shaped around your style, with a curated mix of experiences such as a private 4×4, quad or buggy dunes exploration across Erg Chebbi, scenic stops for wide-open viewpoints and photos, and a little fun if you want it — sandboarding is always a favorite. If you’re curious about culture beyond the dunes, we can include a gentle visit to a nearby desert village for music and local atmosphere, kept authentic and respectful.
Most importantly, there is space for the kind of luxury that matters: unhurried time — a long lunch, quiet terrace moments, sunset picnic in the dunes and the feeling of the Sahara without any pressure.
In the evening, you swap camp magic for refined comfort at a luxury boutique hotel in the Merzouga area — perfect for a proper shower, a beautiful room, and a calm, elegant dinner under desert skies.
Overnight: Merzouga area (luxury boutique hotel)
Saharaï moment: Desert luxury in two textures — wild starlight, then boutique calm.
Day 6Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Midelt → Middle Atlas (Ifrane/Cedars) → Fes
After breakfast, begin the scenic northbound crossing toward Fes — a beautiful day of contrasts designed with Saharaï pacing: comfortable breaks, panoramic viewpoints, and a well-timed lunch so the journey feels smooth, not tiring.
You travel through the palm-lined ribbon of the Ziz Valley, where oasis towns and green valleys cut through desert tones like a living river. As the road climbs, the landscape shifts again into cooler air and highland light, arriving into Midelt for a calm lunch stop and a reset before the final stretch.
From there, continue into the Middle Atlas, where cedar forests and alpine scenery create a completely different Morocco. If timing aligns, you may have the chance to spot Barbary macaques in the cedar forests — an unexpectedly charming wildlife moment on the way to the imperial city. A short pause in Ifrane is also possible, often nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine feel and clean, mountain atmosphere.
Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon/evening, check into your Saharaï-selected riad/hotel, and enjoy a soft landing after the crossing.
Overnight: Fes
Saharaï moment: Arriving in an imperial city after dunes and mountains — Morocco unfolding, layer by layer.
Day 7Fes Guided Tour (Full Day)
Today is dedicated to Fes, Morocco’s most intricate imperial city — a living medina where craftsmanship, scholarship, and daily life still move through the same lanes. With a private local guide, you explore at a pace that feels immersive but never overwhelming.
Begin at Bab Boujloud (the Blue Gate), then step into the medina’s main arteries, weaving through souks and artisan streets where workshops are active: metalwork, woodcarving, textiles, and ceramics. You’ll include key architectural highlights such as the Bou Inania Madrasa, and continue through historic quarters around the Al-Qarawiyyin area (experienced respectfully via viewpoints and surrounding lanes), where the city’s intellectual soul is most strongly felt.
If you wish, include the iconic viewpoints over the traditional tanneries — one of Fes’s most famous scenes — done in a Saharaï way: brief, intentional, and well-managed. The day can also include refined contrasts like the Royal Palace gates (exterior) and the historic Mellah (Jewish Quarter) for a wider sense of the city beyond the medina lanes.
A calm Saharaï-style lunch pause is built in, with time for tasteful shopping if you wish — guided toward quality and authenticity.
Optional artisan add-ons (arranged on request): a ceramics atelier visit (and beginner session), a zellij mosaic introduction with artisans, or a curated leather workshop visit.
End of program: Fes
Saharaï moment: Leaving the medina with the feeling that you truly lived it — an historical experience like no other.

FAQs: Sahara Majesty: 7-Day Luxury Tour from Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara
Where does Sahara Majesty start and finish?
Sahara Majesty begins in Marrakech and finishes in Fes. If you’d prefer to finish back in Marrakech (or start in Casablanca), we can tailor the routing.
What are the key highlights on this itinerary?
The signature route includes the High Atlas + Tizi n’Tichka Pass, Telouet + Ounila Valley, Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO), Skoura Oasis + Kasbah Amridil, Rose Valley, Dades (Monkey Fingers), Todra Gorge, Erfoud fossils (optional), and the Merzouga / Erg Chebbi dunes with a luxury desert camp night — ending with a full guided day in Fes.
How much driving is involved?
This is a true cross-country journey, so there are longer scenic drive days — especially Day 4 (south-to-Sahara crossing) and Day 6 (Merzouga to Fes). Saharaï pacing includes comfort stops, scenic viewpoints, and a calm lunch plan so it feels smooth rather than exhausting.
Do we have to do the camel ride in Merzouga?
No. You can choose a 4x4 transfer instead (same dunes, different style). We’ll tailor it to your comfort level.
What is the desert camp like — is it truly comfortable?
Yes. Our camps include proper beds, quality linens, and a refined dining setup. You can also upgrade to Signature level tents/suites where available (private terrace, upgraded amenities).
Why do we stay two nights in the Merzouga area?
Because it changes the whole experience. One night can feel rushed; two nights allows you to enjoy the Sahara properly — dunes at different light, a calmer rhythm, and time for optional experiences (4x4 dunes exploration, sandboarding, cultural village moments).
What is included on the full day in Marrakech (Day 2)?
A curated guided route can include Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa (when accessible), Koutoubia gardens (exterior), selective souk/medina lanes, the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna, and Jardin Majorelle — paced elegantly with a calm lunch pause.
What is included on the full day in Fes (Day 7)?
A private guided medina day typically includes Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), artisan quarters, architectural highlights such as Bou Inania Madrasa, historic medina lanes around the Al-Qarawiyyin area (viewpoints/respectful access), optional tannery viewpoints, and refined contrasts like the Royal Palace gates (exterior) and Mellah if desired.
Is this itinerary suitable for couples and families?
Yes — it’s designed for both. We tailor room configurations, pacing, and stops, and can adjust walking time and rest breaks for families with children.
What accommodation tier is this tour built around?
You can select your tier: Boutique Comfort, Boutique Signature, or Signature Luxury. Most guests choose Boutique Signature or Signature Luxury for the fullest Saharaï experience.
Can we extend the tour or add extra nights?
Absolutely. Popular add-ons include an extra night in Marrakech, a second full day in Fes, or upgrading the desert experience with private stargazing and a premium camp suite.
