Tour Itinerary
Day 1Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca
Welcome to Morocco.
Upon arrival in Casablanca, you’ll be met and transferred privately to your Saharaï-selected hotel — a soft landing designed for comfort after travel.
If timing allows, we begin with Casablanca’s signature masterpiece: Hassan II Mosque, dramatically set above the Atlantic. It’s an immediate immersion in Moroccan artistry — scale, symmetry, and intricate craftsmanship — and a powerful first note for the journey ahead.
The remainder of the day stays gentle: a corniche stroll for sea air, a beautifully chosen dinner reservation (classic Moroccan or contemporary), and an early night so you wake refreshed for the Imperial Cities chapter.
Overnight: Casablanca
Saharaï moment: Atlantic air and first light — Morocco begins with grandeur.
Day 2Day 2: Casablanca → Rabat (Imperial Capital)
If you weren’t able to visit it yesterday, we schedule Hassan II Mosque this morning while the city is still calm — an elegant start before heading north.
Arrive in Rabat, Morocco’s polished capital, for a curated imperial introduction. You’ll typically include Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a serene royal complex that captures Rabat’s composed, ceremonial feel. Then drift into the Kasbah of the Udayas, where white-and-blue lanes open to river-and-ocean viewpoints — perfect for a slow walk and a mint tea pause.
If timing allows, we add Chellah, Rabat’s atmospheric historic site: ruins and gardens, quiet and poetic — a softer, more reflective counterpoint to the grand monuments.
Overnight: Rabat
Saharaï moment: Imperial calm — sea breeze, white-and-blue lanes, and quiet elegance.
Day 3Day 3: Rabat → Chefchaouen (The Blue City)
Depart Rabat and travel into the north as the landscapes turn greener and the pace naturally slows. By afternoon, arrive in Chefchaouen, Morocco’s beloved Blue Pearl in the Rif Mountains.
Check into your Saharaï-selected riad/hotel and let the day soften. Chefchaouen is designed for wandering: blue-washed alleys, artisan corners, small galleries, and shaded terraces where mint tea becomes a ritual. If you’d like hidden corners and context, a local guide can be added for a short walking tour.
As the light turns golden, we time a gentle viewpoint moment above the medina — the classic “blue city from above” scene, calm and quietly spectacular.
Overnight: Chefchaouen
Saharaï moment: Blue streets at golden hour — restorative, romantic, unforgettable.
Day 4Day 4: Chefchaouen (Slow Day & Rif Nature Option)
A day designed to breathe. Begin with a slow morning: soft-light photos, coffee in the square, and unhurried medina wandering when the lanes are at their quietest — the moment Chefchaouen feels most intimate.
If you want nature, we can arrange a Rif Mountains outing — from a gentle countryside walk to an Akchour-style riverside route depending on energy. Prefer to keep it fully relaxed? This becomes a “slow luxury” day: terrace time, artisan shopping with a discerning eye, and a long lunch that turns the day into a true reset. Later, enjoy a quiet golden-hour pause — a shaded terrace or a viewpoint moment — as the blue tones deepen and the town settles.
Overnight: Chefchaouen
Saharaï moment: Mountain air, slow steps, and a city that rewards stillness.
Day 5Day 5: Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes
Today transitions you from mountain calm into Morocco’s layered history. Begin with Volubilis, the country’s most iconic Roman archaeological site, set among open countryside. Wander ancient streets, arches, and panoramas — a serene, open-air contrast to the tighter medina lanes you’ll explore later.
Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s Imperial Cities, known for grand gates and royal-era architecture. The experience here is curated: key highlights, a short atmospheric walk, and a café pause to absorb the city’s calmer imperial rhythm.
By late afternoon/evening, arrive in Fes and check into your Saharaï-selected riad/hotel — ideally positioned to feel the medina’s atmosphere without sacrificing comfort.
Overnight: Fes
Saharaï moment: Roman stones, imperial gates — then the sounds of Fes behind ancient walls.
Day 6Day 6: Fes Guided Tour (Full Day) & Optional Artisan Add-Ons
Today is dedicated to Fes, Morocco’s most intricate imperial city — a living medina where craftsmanship, scholarship, and daily life still move through the same lanes. With a private local guide, begin at Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate) and weave through the medina’s arteries: souks, spice corners, and artisan streets where workshops are active in real time.
Your route includes key architectural highlights such as Bou Inania Madrasa, and historic quarters around the Al-Qarawiyyin area (experienced respectfully via viewpoints and surrounding lanes), where the city’s intellectual soul is most strongly felt. If you wish, include the iconic viewpoints over the traditional tanneries — done in a Saharaï way: brief, intentional, and well-managed.
A calm Saharaï-style lunch pause is built in, with time for tasteful shopping guided toward quality and authenticity — ceramics, textiles, leather goods, and artisan pieces chosen with discernment.
Optional artisan add-ons (arranged on request): a ceramics atelier visit (and beginner session), a zellij mosaic introduction with artisans, or a curated leather workshop visit.
Overnight: Fes
Saharaï moment: Leaving the medina exhilarated and feeling like a local.
Day 7Day 7: Fes (Relaxed Day, Culinary or Hammam Option)
Today is your “Fes in slow motion” day — the one that turns a great itinerary into a premium one. After the guided medina immersion yesterday, this is where you enjoy the city with more ease: fewer must-sees, more atmosphere, and the luxury of choosing your rhythm.
You can begin with a gentle morning in the quieter lanes and courtyards — a refined café stop, a rooftop tea, or a short curated wander focused on the medina’s calmer corners and artisan quality (not the crowded rush). If you’d like to shop, we do it Saharaï-style: guided toward craftsmanship and authenticity — ceramics, textiles, and leather goods selected with taste and discernment.
For restoration, a luxury hammam & spa ritual is the perfect reset before the Sahara segment — steam, scrub, massage, and that unmistakable “nervous system exhale” feeling. Alternatively (or in addition), we can arrange a cooking workshop or tasting-style culinary experience — a warm, celebratory way to connect with Moroccan tradition through flavor and hospitality.
The afternoon stays intentionally spacious: time to linger, return to a favorite spot, or simply enjoy your riad’s calm — because the most premium part of this tour is that you’re not rushing from stop to stop.
Overnight: Fes
Saharaï moment: The luxury of time — Fes reveals itself when you don’t chase it.
Day 8Day 8: Fes → Ifrane → Cedar Forests (Barbary Macaques) → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (Luxury Desert Camp)
Depart Fes into the Middle Atlas, where the air turns crisp and the scenery shifts to forests and highland light. Pause in Ifrane — Morocco’s alpine-style town often nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” — for a striking contrast before the desert tones begin.
Continue through cedar forests where you may encounter Barbary macaques in their natural habitat (observed quietly and respectfully). As the landscape opens, follow the palm-lined ribbon of the Ziz Valley, where oasis towns appear like a green river cutting through earth tones.
By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, where the Erg Chebbi dunes rise like golden waves. At golden hour, your Sahara transition begins:
- Camel trek at sunset across the dunes, or
- 4×4 transfer for maximum comfort.
Arrive to your luxury desert camp with lantern light, warm hospitality, and dinner under the stars — followed by Berber rhythm, mint tea, and that rare stillness only the Sahara gives.
Overnight: Luxury desert camp (Erg Chebbi)
Saharaï moment: The first time you look up — and you’re left breathless.
Day 9Day 9: Merzouga Desert Immersion
Today is the Sahara, properly — not rushed, not “arrive-and-leave.” Sunrise in the dunes is optional, followed by a slow breakfast and a flexible day designed around your style.
Depending on your preference, we can shape the day around a private 4×4 dunes exploration, scenic stops for wide-open viewpoints, and a little fun (sandboarding is always a favorite). If you want cultural depth, we can include a gentle village visit for local music moments — kept authentic and respectful.
Most importantly, the day includes space for the kind of luxury that matters: unhurried time — long lunch, quiet terrace moments, and the feeling of the Sahara without any pressure.
In the evening, swap camp magic for refined comfort at a boutique hotel in the Merzouga area — a beautiful room, a serene pool, and a calm dinner under desert skies.
Overnight: Merzouga area (boutique hotel)
Saharaï moment: Two textures of desert luxury — wild starlight, then boutique calm.
Day 10Day 10: Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
Begin with Rissani, a historic desert trading town with authentic local atmosphere — dates, spices, and the desert’s commercial heartbeat. It’s a beautiful cultural counterpoint after the dunes.
Continue to Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls rise sharply on either side and the air turns cool — a gentle walk here is one of Morocco’s most dramatic “nature pauses.” Then travel onward into the sculpted landscapes of the Dades Valley.
Arrive by late afternoon and, if timing allows, pause near the famous “Monkey Fingers” formations as the light softens and the cliffs turn warm red.
Overnight: Dades Valley
Saharaï moment: Dinner as the valley turns deep red at dusk.
Day 11Day 11: Dades → Rose Valley → Skoura → Ouarzazate → Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO) → Marrakech
Begin the final crossing toward Marrakech — designed as the most beautiful route back, not just the fastest. Travel through the Rose Valley, then pass the palm-filled Skoura Oasis region, where southern Morocco softens into palms, earthen towers, and kasbah landscapes.
Continue toward Ouarzazate, gateway to the Kasbah Route, then arrive at Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site) — Morocco’s most iconic ksar and a masterpiece of pre-Saharan earthen architecture. Wander its honey-colored lanes, cross the river approach, and climb to the panoramic viewpoint over the valley. Its timeless silhouette has made it a favorite backdrop for major international productions and Academy Award winners — such as Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator — as one of Morocco’s most “Hollywood” locations.
From there, ascend into the High Atlas Mountains and cross back via the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with scenic overlooks and comfort stops built in. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening for a soft landing.
Overnight: Marrakech
Saharaï moment: UNESCO heritage in golden light — then the red city’s warm evening hum.
Day 12Day 12: Marrakech Exploration (Full Day) & Optional Experiences
Today is Marrakech done the Saharaï way: curated, unhurried, and beautifully balanced — iconic sights with space to breathe.
Your guided route can include Marrakech’s most celebrated points of interest — Bahia Palace, the Madrasa (Ben Youssef, when accessible), the Koutoubia Mosque (exterior gardens), and the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna — with time in between for select medina lanes and souks. Your guide keeps the experience elegant and fluid, steering you toward the best corners and artisan streets without the chaos.
In the afternoon, shift into calm with Jardin Majorelle — a serene garden escape of bold color and botanical beauty — and, if you’d like, pair it with the Yves Saint Laurent Museum next door for a refined cultural layer.
A Saharaï-style lunch pause is built in, and the remainder of the day is flexible based on your mood:
- a Moroccan cooking class (hands-on, celebratory, and beautifully local)
- a premium Moroccan tea tasting ritual — a curated Saharaï tea experience in a refined setting (by arrangement, subject to availability)
- a luxury hammam & spa ritual (the perfect reset after travel)
- a curated artisan experience (zellij, ceramics, leather) or tasteful shopping with guidance
- sunset drinks on a rooftop terrace, followed by a refined dinner reservation
Overnight: Marrakech
Saharaï moment: Marrakech in full color — palaces, gardens, and the city glowing into the evening.
Day 13Day 13: Essaouira
Today you trade heat and city energy for sea breeze and slow living. Travel to Essaouira, Morocco’s artistic Atlantic town, where the light softens and the pace naturally drops.
Arrive and settle into your Saharaï-selected stay, then enjoy a day designed to feel like a reset: a gentle wander through the medina’s artisan lanes and galleries, a stroll along the ramparts with wide ocean views, and time to simply linger — watching the boats, listening to the gulls, letting the Atlantic air do what it does.
A long, relaxed seafood lunch is part of the Essaouira charm — fresh catch, simple perfection, and the kind of meal that turns into a memory. The afternoon stays beautifully open: browse craftsmanship (woodwork is a local signature), enjoy a quiet café pause, or take an easy beach walk as the wind and light change.
As evening approaches, we recommend a sunset moment — either along the ramparts or the beach edge — when the sky turns pastel and Essaouira feels especially calm.
Overnight: Essaouira
Saharaï moment: salt air, golden light, and a coastal exhale after the desert and cities.
Day 14Day 14: Essaouira → Marrakech Departure
After breakfast, return to Marrakech for departure, timed to your flight. The transfer is designed to stay smooth and comfortable, with a well-timed pause if you’d like a final coffee or a last look moment.
If your schedule allows, we can include a gentle final touch in Marrakech — a calm café stop, a quick finishing purchase, or a quiet garden pause — before your private transfer to the airport.
Saharaï moment: a soft close — unhurried, elegant, and complete.

Where does the tour start and finish?
Golden Horizon typically starts in Casablanca and finishes in Marrakech. If you’d like a round trip returning to Casablanca, we can tailor the final days accordingly.
Does this tour include Morocco’s Imperial Cities?
Yes — Rabat, Meknes, Fes, and Marrakech are included, along with Chefchaouen, the Sahara, and the coast for the full-spectrum experience.
How many nights are in Chefchaouen and why?
Two nights. Chefchaouen is designed as a slow reset between the imperial cities — it’s most beautiful when you’re not rushing in and out.
What’s included in the Fes guided day?
A private guided medina day typically includes Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), artisan quarters, Bou Inania Madrasa, historic lanes around the Al-Qarawiyyin area (viewpoints/respectful access), optional tannery viewpoints, and a calm lunch pause.
Is the second day in Fes guided?
Day 7 is intentionally flexible. We can keep it as a relaxed independent day, or add curated experiences such as a hammam ritual, a cooking workshop, or artisan studio visits.
How many Sahara nights are included?
Two nights in the Merzouga area: one night in a luxury desert camp and one night in a boutique hotel. This avoids the “arrive-sleep-leave” feeling and makes the desert experience truly enjoyable.
Do we have to do the camel ride in Merzouga?
No. You can choose a 4x4 transfer instead. We tailor the dunes experience to your comfort level.
How much driving is involved?
This is a comprehensive journey, so it includes a mix of shorter and longer drive days (notably Fes → Merzouga and Dades → Marrakech). Saharaï pacing includes comfort stops, scenic viewpoints, and well-timed lunches to keep it smooth.

Yes — Essaouira is included as written. If you prefer, you can swap the coast for an Agafay Desert night outside Marrakech for a different style of finale.
What’s included on the Marrakech full day?
A curated guided route can include Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa (when accessible), Koutoubia gardens (exterior), select souk lanes, Jemaa el-Fna, plus Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum if desired. Add-ons include a cooking class, hammam/spa, and a premium tea tasting ritual (by arrangement).
What accommodation style is this tour built around?
Saharaï stays are boutique-led and design-conscious. You can select your tier: Boutique Comfort, Boutique, or Signature (our most premium tier).
