Tour Itinerary
Day 1Arrival in Casablanca
Welcome to Morocco.
Upon arrival in Casablanca, you’ll be met and transferred to your Saharaï-selected hotel. Depending on your arrival time and energy, we can include a gentle first evening moment — a seaside stroll along the corniche or a relaxed dinner reservation to ease into the trip.
If timing allows (and you’d like), we can also arrange a visit to the iconic Hassan II Mosque — dramatically set above the Atlantic and one of Morocco’s signature architectural landmarks.
Overnight: Casablanca (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Ocean air and city lights — the journey begins with grandeur.
Day 2Casablanca → Rabat → Tangier (Coastal Icons)
Begin the day with any Casablanca highlights you may have missed — especially Hassan II Mosque if Day 1 arrival was late — then travel north to Rabat, Morocco’s polished imperial capital.
In Rabat, the visit is curated to feel elegant and unrushed. You’ll typically stop at the city’s most iconic landmarks: Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a serene royal complex that sets the tone for Morocco’s imperial story. From there, continue into the Kasbah of the Udayas, where white-and-blue lanes open onto river-and-ocean views — perfect for a slow walk, photos, and a calm mint tea pause.
Continue onward to Tangier, Morocco’s cosmopolitan northern port. If time allows this afternoon/evening, we include Tangier’s signature coastal pairing: Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic meets the Strait of Gibraltar, and the legendary Caves of Hercules — dramatic sea air, wide horizons, and a beautiful introduction to Tangier’s mythology and coastline. If arrival is later, we simply reserve these highlights for tomorrow morning.
Overnight: Tangier (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Atlantic meets Mediterranean — wind, light, and a city shaped by worlds.
Day 3Tangier → Tetouan (optional) → Chefchaouen
After breakfast, the morning begins with any Tangier moments you may have missed on Day 2. If needed, we’ll schedule Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules today, plus a gentle kasbah/medina viewpoint pause to round out the city’s atmosphere.
Then depart Tangier and travel into the Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen, where the landscapes turn greener and the pace naturally slows. If you’d like an extra northern layer, we can include an optional stop in Tetouan — a beautiful, character-filled city known for its atmosphere and craftsmanship. It’s a relaxed, roughly one-hour wander to stretch your legs, enjoy a café pause, and get a glimpse of a side of northern Morocco many visitors miss. (Optional, depending on timing and preferred pacing.)
Arrive in Chefchaouen in the afternoon, check into your Saharaï-selected riad/hotel, and begin exploring at an unhurried rhythm: blue-washed lanes, artisan handicrafts, shaded terraces, and photo moments at every turn. If you’d like deeper context and hidden corners, a local guide can be added for a short walking tour.
Overnight: Chefchaouen (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Blue streets at golden hour — calm, restorative, unforgettable.
Day 4Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes
After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and travel into the countryside — a beautiful shift from mountain calm to Morocco’s deeper historical layers. The landscapes open into rolling hills and olive groves, setting the tone for a day that blends ancient history with imperial grandeur.
Your first major stop is Volubilis, Morocco’s most iconic Roman archaeological site. Wander the ancient streets at an easy pace, taking in the scale of the ruins and the quiet atmosphere of open countryside — a serene contrast to the medinas you’ll experience later.
Continue onward to Meknes, one of Morocco’s Imperial Cities, known for its grand gates and royal-era architecture. The visit is curated rather than exhaustive — a few key highlights and an atmospheric walk through the most photogenic corners, with time for a calm café pause to absorb the city’s quieter imperial rhythm.
By late afternoon/evening, arrive in Fes and check into your Saharaï-selected riad/hotel (typically inside or near the medina for maximum atmosphere). If you’d like, we can include a gentle first evening orientation — a panoramic viewpoint over the medina rooftops or a calm dinner reservation.
Overnight: Fes (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Roman stones to imperial gates — then the hush of Fes behind ancient walls.
Day 5Fes Medina Guided Tour (Full Day)
Today is dedicated to Fes, Morocco’s most intricate imperial city — a living world of craftsmanship, scholarship, and tradition. With a private local guide, you explore at a pace that feels immersive but never overwhelming.
Begin at Bab Boujloud (the Blue Gate), then enter the medina’s main arteries where daily life flows through artisan streets and market lanes. Your guide leads you into architectural highlights — typically including Bou Inania Madrasa, celebrated for refined tilework and carved cedar details.
Continue through historic quarters around the Al-Qarawiyyin area (experienced respectfully via viewpoints and surrounding lanes), then into artisan neighborhoods where craft is practiced in real time: metalworkers, woodcarvers, textiles, ceramics — the medina as a living workshop, not a museum.
If you’d like, include the iconic viewpoints over the traditional tanneries — done in a Saharaï way: brief, intentional, well-managed (no pressure, no chaos). The afternoon can also include refined contrasts such as the Royal Palace gates (exterior), the historic Mellah (Jewish Quarter), and a panoramic viewpoint over the medina rooftops.
A calm Saharaï-style lunch pause is built in, with time for tasteful shopping guided toward quality and authenticity.
Optional artisan add-ons (arranged on request): ceramics atelier visit, beginner zellij introduction, leather workshop visit, curated artisan studio stops.
Overnight: Fes (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: You step back in time — and the medina comes alive in layers.
Day 6Fes → Ifrane → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (Luxury Desert Camp)
Depart Fes and head into the Middle Atlas, where the air turns crisp and the scenery shifts to forests and highland light. Stop in Ifrane, often nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco,” for its alpine atmosphere and fresh mountain air — a striking contrast before the Sahara.
Continue through cedar forests where you may spot Barbary macaques (quietly observed, never fed), then follow the palm-lined ribbon of the Ziz Valley, where oasis towns appear like a green river against desert tones.
By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, where the dunes rise like waves — vast, golden, unmistakably Sahara. At golden hour, your desert transition begins:
- Camel trek at sunset across the dunes, or
- 4×4 transfer for maximum comfort.
Arrive to your luxury desert camp with lantern light, warm hospitality, dinner under the stars — and the quiet stillness that makes the Sahara unforgettable.
Overnight: Luxury desert camp (Erg Chebbi)
Saharaï moment: The first time you look up — and the night sky becomes the main event.
Day 7Merzouga Desert Immersion (Full Day)
This is the upgrade that transforms the journey: a full day in Merzouga so the Sahara is not just a stop — it’s an experience.
Sunrise in the dunes is optional, followed by a slow breakfast and a day designed around your preferred rhythm — relaxed, adventurous, or cultural.
Depending on what you’d love most, the day can include a private 4×4 desert circuit beyond the main dunes: wide-open viewpoints, quieter dune corners, and the feeling of seeing the Sahara from multiple angles.
For cultural depth, we can arrange a gentle visit to a nomad family (seasonal/availability dependent) for tea and a window into desert life — always done respectfully and without “tourist spectacle.”
You can also include a Gnawa music moment in a local village setting, or a route that touches desert-edge landscapes such as old mining areas (where appropriate and safe), giving the day more story and texture beyond the dunes.
For a softer luxury layer, we can time a calm lunch in an oasis-style setting (or a beautiful local table) so the day feels curated rather than improvised.
If you want some play, sandboarding is a favorite, and for adrenaline we can arrange quad/buggy time in designated areas (optional add-on), balanced with plenty of downtime so the day stays premium, not hectic.
In the evening, swap camp magic for refined comfort at a boutique hotel with a pool in the Merzouga area — perfect for a proper shower, a beautiful room, and a calm dinner under desert skies.
Overnight: Merzouga area (boutique hotel)
Saharaï moment: The Sahara in full — dunes, culture, and calm, then poolside comfort.
Day 8Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
After breakfast, begin with Rissani, a historic desert trading town with grounded local atmosphere — dates, spices, and the desert’s commercial heartbeat.
Continue toward the canyon landscapes of Todra Gorge, where towering rock walls rise sharply on either side and the air turns cool — perfect for a gentle walk, photos, and a calm pause before the road opens again.
By late afternoon, arrive in the Dades Valley, where cliffs and rock formations turn sculptural. If timing allows, enjoy a short walk near the famous “Monkey Fingers” formations as the valley light softens into warm reds and golds.
Overnight: Dades Valley (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Dinner as the valley turns deep red at dusk.
Day 9Dades → Rose Valley → Skoura → Ouarzazate → Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO) → High Atlas (Tizi n’Tichka) → Marrakech
After breakfast, begin the final crossing toward Marrakech — designed as the most beautiful route back, not just the fastest. Travel through the Rose Valley, then pass the palm-filled Skoura Oasis region, where southern Morocco softens into palms, earthen towers, and quiet kasbah landscapes.
Continue toward Ouarzazate, the desert gateway city, before arriving at one of Morocco’s most iconic highlights: Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site). This fortified earthen village (ksar) is a masterpiece of traditional pre-Saharan architecture — honey-colored walls, narrow lanes, and a hilltop granary with panoramic views over the valley. Its dramatic setting and timeless look have made it one of Morocco’s most famously cinematic locations.
You’ll have time to wander the ksar’s lanes, stop for photos, and climb to the viewpoint — the moment where the whole journey clicks: kasbah silhouettes, desert light, and that unmistakable Morocco feeling.
From Aït Benhaddou, ascend into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing back via the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass — panoramic overlooks, mountain air, and a sweeping contrast from desert-edge landscapes to Marrakech.
Arrive: Marrakech (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: A truly epic day — from UNESCO heritage, cinematic kasbah light, to the Atlas unfolding into the Red City.
Day 10Marrakech Guided Medina Tour (Full Day)
Today is Marrakech done the Saharaï way: curated, unhurried, and beautifully balanced — iconic sights with space to breathe.
Begin with a guided medina route that weaves through Marrakech’s most iconic points of interest — Bahia Palace, the Madrasa Ben Youssef (when accessible), the Koutoubia Mosque (exterior gardens), and the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna — with time in between for select medina lanes and souk streets of spices, lanterns, leather, and artisan workshops. Your guide keeps the experience elegant and fluid, steering you toward the best corners without the chaos.
A Saharaï-style lunch pause is built in — ideally a refined terrace or garden setting — followed by a calmer contrast in the afternoon at Jardin Majorelle. If you’d like, pair it with the Yves Saint Laurent Museum next door for a refined cultural layer.
Depending on your mood, we can add:
- Luxury hammam & spa ritual
- Moroccan cooking class
- Premium tea tasting ritual (by arrangement, subject to availability)
- Curated artisan experiences (zellij/ceramics/leather) or guided finishing-touch shopping
Overnight: Marrakech (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Marrakech in full color — then a soft, elegant close.
Day 11Marrakech — Free Day & Day Trip Options
This day is intentionally flexible — a premium “breathing day” at the end of the journey, when most guests appreciate slower pacing.
You can keep it truly relaxed: sleep in, enjoy a long breakfast, rooftop time, pool/spa, and unhurried shopping — or choose one signature add-on experience depending on your style:
- Atlas Mountains day trip (Imlil and mountain viewpoints, gentle hikes by preference)
- Ourika Valley for river scenery and a softer nature day
- A full-day Agafay Desert experience (or an optional overnight upgrade) for stone-desert light and sunset dining
- Ouzoud Waterfalls day trip for a lush contrast (longer day, but very memorable)
- Hot air balloon sunrise (early start, unforgettable light)
- Hands-on workshops: perfume-making, basket weaving, or curated artisan experiences
- Luxury hammam & spa ritual as a full reset before the coast
We’ll tailor this day based on energy levels, season, and what feels most “you.”
Overnight: Marrakech (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: The luxury of choice — a day designed around you.
Day 12Marrakech → Essaouira (Coastal Interlude)
Today you trade Marrakech’s heat and energy for Atlantic breeze and slow living. Travel to Essaouira, Morocco’s artistic coastal town — softer light, salt air, and a rhythm that invites you to exhale after the desert and medinas.
Arrive and settle into your Saharaï-selected stay, then enjoy an intentionally light afternoon designed for atmosphere rather than “sights.” Stroll the ramparts for wide ocean views, wander artisan lanes and small galleries, and let the medina feel easy and coastal — more open, more relaxed.
A long seafood lunch is part of the Essaouira ritual — fresh catch, simple perfection — followed by a quiet café pause or an easy beach walk as the wind and light change. Toward evening, we time a sunset moment along the ramparts or shoreline when the sky turns pastel and the town becomes quieter.
Overnight: Essaouira (Saharaï-selected riad/hotel)
Saharaï moment: Salt air, soft light — the coast as a gentle exhale.
Day 13Essaouira → Casablanca (Departure)
After breakfast, begin the return to Casablanca for your departure. This is designed as a smooth, comfortable travel day with flexibility built in: a calm coffee stop, a light lunch pause, and the right pacing so the journey doesn’t feel rushed.
If your flight timing allows, we can add a final Casablanca touch — a short corniche moment for sea air, or a finishing visit to Hassan II Mosque if it wasn’t possible on Day 1 (timed carefully so it stays stress-free).
Private transfer to the airport, aligned to your check-in time.
Saharaï moment: The full circle — coast, empire, dunes, red city, and sea — complete.
Finish Options
This itinerary finishes in Casablanca as written. If guests prefer to depart from Marrakech instead, we can tailor the ending around flight timing and comfort.
