FAQs: 9-Day Luxury Morocco Tour: Casablanca to Marrakech via Chefchaouen, Fes & Sahara

What is the full route for this 9-day Casablanca to Marrakech tour via the Sahara?

Casablanca → Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes → Ifrane / Middle Atlas → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (Erg Chebbi, 2 nights) → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley → Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO) → High Atlas (Tizi n’Tichka) → Marrakech (full guided day).

How is the 9-day version different from the 8-day tour?

The 9-day version adds a full guided Marrakech day at the end, so Marrakech is a proper finale rather than just an arrival evening.

Does this itinerary include Volubilis and Meknes before arriving in Fes?

Yes — Day 3 includes Volubilis (Roman ruins) and a curated stop in Meknes (Imperial City) before arriving into Fes.

Is there a full guided Fes medina day — and what does it include?

Yes. The guided day typically includes Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), artisan quarters, Bou Inania Madrasa, historic lanes around the Al-Qarawiyyin area (viewpoints/respectful access), optional tannery viewpoints, and optional contrasts like the Royal Palace gates (exterior) and Mellah.

How long is the drive from Fes to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi dunes)?

It’s a full scenic travel day. Saharaï pacing includes comfort breaks, viewpoints, and a proper lunch plan to keep it smooth and comfortable.

Do we stop in Ifrane / Middle Atlas and travel through the Ziz Valley on the way to Merzouga?

Yes — the route includes Ifrane, Middle Atlas scenery (cedar forests), and the palm-lined ribbon of the Ziz Valley on the approach to Merzouga.

Can we see Barbary macaques on this route?

Possibly. The Middle Atlas cedar forest region is one of the places you may encounter Barbary macaques. Sightings aren’t guaranteed, and we observe respectfully (no feeding).

What’s included in the Merzouga luxury desert camp night?

Your camp night includes the dunes arrival experience (camel or 4x4), dinner, breakfast, and classic Sahara atmosphere (lantern light and starlit sky). Camp upgrades are available by tier.

Do we have to ride a camel to the camp — and are quads/buggies included?

No — you can arrive by 4x4 transfer instead. Quad/buggy experiences are optional add-ons in designated areas and are not included in the base tour price.

What do we do on the full Merzouga immersion day (second Sahara night)?

Optional sunrise, private 4x4 dunes exploration, sandboarding (optional), cultural moments such as Gnawa music and nomad tea where available, plus relaxed downtime — then a boutique hotel night with pool in the Merzouga area.

Does this itinerary include Todra Gorge, Dades Valley, and Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO)?

Yes — you’ll visit Todra Gorge (walkable canyon corridor), overnight in the Dades Valley (key viewpoints / “Monkey Fingers” area depending on timing), and visit Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO) before crossing the Atlas.

What’s included on the full Marrakech guided day — and can we add experiences?

Your Marrakech day can include Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa (when accessible), Koutoubia gardens (exterior), select souk lanes, the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna, plus Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum if desired. Optional premium add-ons include a luxury hammam & spa ritual, Moroccan cooking class, and a premium tea tasting ritual (by arrangement).
